Alexandra found her passion for working in a lab and in the research field during her apprenticeship in the aquatic research institute EAWAG in Zürich. Driven by this motivation, she completed her studies in biology at ETH Zürich, where she joined the Weis lab for a research project and her master's thesis. In October 2023, she returned to the Weis lab for the third time to carry out her PhD in Elisa's subgroup.
Here, she explores the functions and assembly mechanisms of the nuclear pore complex in S. cerevisiae, with a particular focus on the nuclear basket and its central component, the myosin-like protein 1.

If not camping in our microscopy room, Alexandra can be localized on various hiking trips, biking tours and unraveling puzzles in escape rooms.
