Course description

In this Masters course, students will engage perspective research within the domain of cellular biochemistry. Working in close contact with a Professor or group leader, students will focus on one area of cutting-edge research. They will write a review-style document summarizing a selected research area and will identify important open research questions. Students will work independently to select a specific research question, will develop an experimental strategy to address their precisely defined question, and will formulate their strategy within the framework of a research grant. During this process, they will develop and extend their analysis and synthesis skills used in basic science research.

This course requires significant independent study from students. To guide and manage ongoing work, students and the course coordinators will meet at regular intervals. An initial meeting will establish student - tutor groups, and explain the course objectives.  And at intervals students willl recieve direct feedback on their oral and written work in one-on-one sessions.
